Iceland extended its relaunched its long-running Bonus Card as the Iceland Bonus Club in August

Iceland Foods is offering parents using free school meal vouchers £5 in free food through its Bonus Club loyalty card, in one of its “biggest free school meal top-ups to date”.

Stepping up its efforts to “help the most vulnerable families in the UK this Easter” as food prices continue to rise, the supermarket confirmed Iceland and Food Warehouse stores would accept free school meals vouchers as payment throughout the Easter school holidays.

In an additional offer, any shopper who receives school holiday meal allowance vouchers will be able to redeem an additional free £5 top-up, if they spend the equivalent of £15 in free school meal vouchers in store between 24 March and 16 April.

Iceland is also returning its award-winning microloans scheme in partnership with not-for-profit lender Fair For You. Now a regular feature of Iceland’s school holiday offer, shoppers will be able to access “interest-free” loans of up to £100 throughout the Easter break.

Around 40,000 Iceland shoppers make use of the scheme, which was first launched in 2022. Shoppers can preload credit on to their card and make weekly repayments of £10. Iceland covers the interest on behalf of shoppers, in effect making the loans interest-free.

“We know families look to reduce spending in all aspects of daily life, and we know that as a business we need to do our bit to help,” said Iceland executive chairman Richard Walker, who was appointed Labour’s cost of living champion in February.

“At Iceland and The Food Warehouse, we’re committed to standing by families during these challenging times. We hope these extra top-ups bring a little relief to those who need it most this Easter.”

The supermarket has also rolled out a “curated range” of special buys, and multibuy offers designed for families. It includes lunch snacks, everyday essentials and “delicious meals”. Offers include four for £4.80, five for £5, and buy two get one free.

Iceland relaunched its long-running Bonus Card as the Iceland Bonus Club in August, in a major new push on loyalty. It also expanded the monetary discounts and rewards available.
