Three 150g tins of Mint Powder, Milk Flakes and Classic Powder will launch into Tesco

Premium drinking chocolate supplier Islands Chocolate has snagged its first big four supermarket listing.

Two 150g drinking chocolate tins – Classic Hot Chocolate Powder (rsp: £4.95) and Milk Hot Chocolate Flakes (rsp: £6.95) – will roll into Tesco on 27 October, alongside a new box format, containing five single-serve sachets of Milk Hot Chocolate Flakes (rsp: £6.35).

A duo of seasonal lines, Mint Hot Chocolate Powder (rsp: £4.95/150g) and Milk & Dark Chocolate Flakes (rsp: £12.50/10 sachets), will launch into selected Tesco stores on 27 November.

Islands Chocolate sources cocoa from family farms in St Vincent and has built its business supplying drinking chocolate to independent cafés and coffee roasters across the UK.

While the supplier has already secured listings in Ocado and Selfridges for its retail products, it said it had worked closely with Tesco to create this exclusive range, to offer “barista-quality standards” at a “great price”.

“Hot chocolate has always deserved better,” said Islands Chocolate CEO Wilf Marriott.

“For years, customers have been stuck with overly sweet powders and compromises on flavour.

“This launch with Tesco makes barista-quality hot chocolate available to everyone, every day – and we couldn’t be prouder,” Marriott added.

Total cocoa and hot chocolate sales grew by 4.8% to £220.7m in the year to 13 July 2025 [Worldpanel by Numerator]. However, this was due to higher prices, up 6.9% year on year to £2.31 per average pack; volume sales declined  by 2.2% over the period.
