Kallo broth range

Both broths have rolled into Waitrose stores nationwide

Kallø has launched a “clean label” range of broths, developed in response to consumer pushback against ultra-processed foods.

Chicken Bone Broth and Vegetable Broth (rsp: £3/500ml) are gluten-free and contain no MSG, preservatives, artificial colours or flavours.

The former provides 4g of collagen and 2g of protein per carton, while the latter is vegan with a “short, recognisable” ingredients list.

Offering “rich, full-bodied flavour”, both have rolled into Waitrose stores nationwide.

The broths could be used as a cooking base for soups, ramens and sauces, or enjoyed as a savoury drink, said Kallø.

“Within the stocks category, consumers are calling for simplification,” said Kallø brand manager Cynthia Allaglo.

“Awareness of ultra-processed foods is higher than ever, and consumers are rightly scrutinising what goes into their bodies.

“At Kallø, we’re well placed to build on the rise with an ingredients list that is both organic and kept as short as possible,” Allaglo added.

The broths join a raft of NPD launched by Kallø in recent months.

It added a range of plant-based dips – Organic Chunky Tomato & Lentil; Organic Tomato & Olives; and Organic Spicy Tomato (rsp: £3/135g) – into Ocado in July.

This was followed by the addition of two organic granola variants – Three Nut Crunch and Superfruit Crunch (rsp: £3.99) – in October.

In March, it expanded its range with a duo of “category-first” puffed oatcake snacks, Honey 118g and Strawberry 122g (rsp: £2.99), which rolled into Morrisons stores nationwide.
