Tim Mooney has over 25 years of UK and global CPG and retail experience

Mars Food & Nutrition has appointed Tim Mooney as UK & Ireland GM.

Effective 2 February, Mooney will report directly to Hans Bakker, Mars Food & Nutrition regional GM Europe.

Mooney brings over 25 years of UK and global CPG and retail experience to the role. Since 2020, he has been global customers senior sales director for Mars Inc.

Prior to that, he spent seven years at GSK, culminating as commercial excellence director for the GB consumer division.

Mooney also spent a decade at Danone, culminating as grocery controller for Tesco and Asda.

He started his career in buying roles for Safeway, then Sainsbury’s.

Mooney succeeds Nick Reade, who has been appointed as The Compleat Food Group’s first UK MD. It follows a decade’s “dedicated service and significant contributions” to Mars Food & Nutrition, according to the business.

Mooney joins the business at an important time, as Mars continues to drive its “exciting innovation agenda”, including its rapidly expanding ambient ready meals range for Dolmio and Ben’s Original.

He will oversee the business’ continuing purpose partnerships, with 2025 seeing its inaugural landmark collaboration between Ben’s Original and Children in Need.

“It is with great excitement that we welcome Tim to lead the Mars Food & Nutrition team in UK & Ireland,” said Bakker.

“His extensive industry experience and strategic vision will be instrumental in driving the performance of our iconic brands to deliver category value through mutual and sustainable growth.”

Mooney added: “I am delighted to take on this role and look forward to working with our partners across the UK & Ireland to co-create value for our customers, consumers and the category.

“Food & Nutrition is one of the most innovative parts of the Mars business, with iconic household brands, and I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity to build on the team’s success.”
