Matthew and Camila McConaughey’s Pantalones Organic Tequila has sealed a UK grocery debut.
Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila has landed in Waitrose stores nationwide (rsp: £40/70cl).
It is made from organic blue Weber agave and produced at a family-owned distillery in Amatitán, Jalisco, and offered “notes of honey and citrus”, according to the brand.
“On our recent trip to the UK, we saw how naturally tequila has found its place here. Launching with Waitrose is something we’re proud of,” said Matthew and Camila McConaughey. “Tequila should be fun, and Pantalones is just that.
“Whether you’re sipping it, shooting it, or mixing it in a cocktail, it’s made to be enjoyed. The only thing we take seriously is the juice in the bottle. It’s organic, award-winning, and delicious. We’re excited to share it with our friends across the pond.”
The UK would be “a key global market for Pantalones,” said Pantalones co-founder and chairman Andrew Chrisomalis.
“As one of the few organic tequilas on the market, we see real opportunity in the off-trade,” he added.
Premium tequila was seeing “exceptional growth in the UK, driven by customers who are exploring authentic, high-quality spirits with real provenance,” said Waitrose spirits buyer John Vine.
“Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila fits perfectly into that space,” Vine said. “It’s a great liquid, crafted with care by founders who are passionate about what they’ve created. It’s also a fun brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which really sets it apart.
“We know our discerning Waitrose customers will appreciate not only its exceptional taste, but also the fact that it’s fully organic and made with real integrity.”
Pantalones’ wider lineup includes Reposado and Añejo expressions, which have also landed in UK specialist retail.
