The Fibre Barista Edition and Fibre Low-Cal Edition both offer 5g of fibre per serving

Oatly has announced the launch of two oat drinks designed to help consumers get more fibre into their daily lives.

The Fibre Barista Edition and Fibre Low-Cal Edition (rsp: £2.40/one litre) both offer 5g of fibre per serving.

It comes as research suggests that most of the UK population is getting less than half (14g) of the recommended 30g of fibre per day.

Oatly Fibre Barista Edition has been developed “to perform in coffee without compromising on taste or texture”. It is also low in sugars and saturated fat, and is a source of calcium, iodine, vitamins B2 and D.

Meanwhile the Fibre Low-Cal Edition has zero sugar and contains only 20 calories per 100ml, making it ideal for smoothies and shakes, according to the brand. It is low in fat and saturated fat, and is a source of calcium, iodine, and vitamins B2 and D.

“We designed Fibre Barista Edition and Fibre Low-Cal Edition to make it easier to incorporate more fibre into everyday diets,” said Kate Overy, registered nutritionist and nutrition science & communications lead at Oatly. “With most people in the UK not consuming enough fibre, getting an extra 5g can be as simple as choosing an oat drink that’s designed with fibre in mind.

“It’s a convenient, everyday choice that can help contribute to fibre intake without dramatically changing daily habits.”

The lines are available in Sainsbury’s now, with further listings to come in October.
