Speciality coffee roaster Origin Coffee has launched its debut RTD.
Origin Iced Black Coffee is produced in house at the roaster’s dedicated cold brew brewery in Cornwall. It had been designed to bridge the gap between “high-end speciality extraction” coffee and “modern grab-and-go convenience” products, Origin said.
The NPD has launched via major wholesalers in 24-can pack formats, with single cans available across Origin’s seven physical coffee shops and DTC (rsp: £18/6x250ml).
The launch also responded to growing demand for clean-label products, according to Origin. Each can contains just two ingredients: Cornish water and speciality coffee.
To maintain “peak cup quality” all year-round, the single-origin coffee inside the can will rotate throughout the year in line with global harvest seasonality. The debut release features washed heirloom single-origin coffee from Sidamo, and offers “notes of bright raspberry, juicy nectarine, and smooth brown sugar”.
“This launch reflects our dedication to bringing exceptional speciality coffee into more of life’s everyday moments,” said Origin Coffee founder Tom Sobey. “We wanted to create a product that truly allows you to ‘go anywhere’ with Origin – designing a can that travels effortlessly, stores easily, and delivers flavour that stands out in the market, offering the natural sweetness, clean profile, and true integrity of speciality coffee.”
The UK ready-to-drink coffee market was now worth over £367m and growing at 10.5% year on year, Origin Coffee said, citing Circana data.
