A Manchester grocery distribution company turned to poppadum power when its 50 trucks ran low on petrol during the fuel crisis.
Grocery Logistics used tonnes of refined waste vegetable oil from sister company Sharwood's poppadum factory to make the veggie diesel.
Stephen Whittaker, md of Ebony Solutions which invented the refining process, said the e-friendly fuel was more efficient, reduced noise, increased lubrication and gave more horsepower than traditional diesel.
He said: "The commitment of a leading grocery company adds tremendous endorsement to e-diesel's long-term commercial potential in the transport market."
