The 2025 Christmas dinner wars are getting into full swing, with Sainsbury’s the latest supermarket to unveil its offer

Sainsbury’s has entered the 2025 Christmas dinner wars, revealing a traditional festive feast for six for £13.31.

Working out at £2.21 a head, it comes in notably more expensive than offers rolled out in recent days by Aldi and Lidl, both of which are £11.85 and intended to serve eight, making them £1.48 per person.

However, Sainsbury’s has also thought of vegetarians, unveiling a meat-free option, albeit it slightly more expensive still, at £13.82 for six, or £2.30 per person.

Sainsbury’s traditional feasts consist of:

The deal runs from Friday 19 December until Wednesday 24 December.

“We believe Christmas should be joyful and generous, that’s why we’re delivering brilliant value, trusted quality and outstanding service is more important than ever,” said Sainsbury’s chief commercial and sustainability officer Rhian Bartlett.

“This year, we’ve put together unmissable deals designed to make hosting easy and affordable. Through Nectar Prices and Aldi Price Match, we’re providing easy ways for everyone to save.

“Whether it’s picking up a British turkey, bagging great value veg trimmings, or creating a complete six-person festive feast for under £3 a head, we are committed to ensuring no one has to compromise on their Christmas feast this year.”

Sainsbury’s is also offering swedes and red and white cabbages at 15p each with Nectar Prices.

Lidl unveiled its value Christmas dinner deal last week and Aldi matched it yesterday. Both have driven the price down by going much lower than Sainsbury’s on veg, with a range at 8p each, and no loyalty pricing involved.

Both consist of a 3.05kg whole fresh turkey for £9, or £3.05 per kg, own-label gravy granules (£1.09/300g), Yorkshire puddings (15-pack, 46p), stuffing mix (90p, two packs), and four varieties of veg – potatoes (2kg), sprouts (500g), carrots (1kg) and parsnips (500g) – for 8p each.
