>>MIKE COPPARD, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF SHLOER, AND TEAM
Keeping Shloer one of the top-selling adult soft drinks requires a dedicated team. Managing director Mike Coppard says the managers he leads are the right crew for the job. Brand manager Kristina Purdy, assistant brand manager Katherine McAuliffe and national account manager Simon Chaplin are the retail-facing members. Whereas finance director Giles Lee and divisional accountant Christian Young balance the books.
The group has a range of blue-chip backgrounds, encompassing roles at companies such as Unilever, Nestlé and Southcorp.
“The team is responsible for the development and implementation of business strategy and driving profits,” says Coppard. It manages all aspects of product sales within multiple grocers.
Its aims for the coming year, he says, revolve around further new product and trade channel development and advertising.
Coppard says the group prides itself on its sense of focus, dedicating itself to core functions, while outsourcing non-core activities. “For instance, primary production takes place at parent company Merrydown’s Horam site.”
Professional relationships between team members are close and Coppard says lines of communication are kept as short as possible, enabling quick decision making.
Despite the hard graft, he claims they still find time to enjoy themselves: “We work hard and play hard - indoor cricket relieves the stress!”
