Tesco has introduced a new ‘health discount’ for staff in a move to ramp up the everyday wellbeing of its workforce.
The supermarket giant has announced a 20% colleague discount across a wide range of healthcare products.
The discount, now available for all Tesco colleagues, covers essential products including medicines, vitamins, oral care, eye care and first aid products.
Tesco said it was looking to make routine healthcare more affordable for its workforce.
Tesco staff normally receive a 10% discount on products, rising to 15% on payday weekends.
The enhanced offer will reduce the cost of many essentials bought in Tesco stores and online, and will be in addition to the 50% discount on Tesco own‑brand sanitary care products, reflecting a broader push by the retailer to ease the cost of supporting everyday health needs.
Tesco already covers the cost of VAT on a selection of own‑brand essentials for its customers and colleagues, including suncare and toothbrushes, toothpastes and mouthwashes for children.
“We’re committed to helping our customers live healthier lives and we want to do a little extra for our colleagues and their families too to make it easier and more affordable to prioritise their health,” said Tesco health & wellness category director Tom Lye.
