Each product in the range carries an rsp of £4.50

North London pan-Asian restaurant group Tootoomoo has launched a six-strong food-to-go range into Sainsbury’s.

The “flavour-packed” range comprises Miso Ponzu Chicken Shophouse Noodles, Spicy Dan Dan Beef Shophouse Noodles, Katsu Chicken Sushi Tacos, Yuzu Fish Sushi Tacos, Salmon Beetroot Rice Rolls and Spicy Chicken Rice Rolls.

All products have a shelf price of £4.50 and are included as mains in Sainsbury’s’ premium £5 meal deal.

They were “proof that culinary artistry and busy lifestyles can coexist”, said Tootoomoo.

“Our restaurants have always been about sharing the vibrant energy of Asian street markets,” said Tootoomoo founder Philip McGuinness.

“Now, we’re bringing that same spirit to Sainsbury’s, where our signature flavours meet the hustle of everyday life.

“These products are a love letter to our shophouse roots, reimagined for foodies on the move,” McGuinness added.

It comes as Brits’ appetite for Asian-inspired cuisine is booming, with UK retail sales of ‘Chinese and other oriental’ food topping £1bn in 2024, according to Mintel.

Asian-inspired restaurant brands like Yo, which saw value sales rocket by 24.5% to £104.2m in 2024, have clearly benefited from shoppers’ changing tastes and responded with prolific innovation pipelines.

For instance, Yo launched a quartet of frozen meals into Tesco and a range of sous vide meal kits into Asda in March. This was followed by the addition of a chilled ready meals range, which hit Morrisons earlier this month.
