Waitrose has expanded its whisky offer with the launch of three new single malts under its No.1 label.
No.1 Speyside Single Malt Whisky (rsp: £25/70cl), No.1 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (£29/70cl), and No.1 Highland Single Malt Whisky (£25/70cl) are in stores now.
They are produced exclusively for the retailer by Ian Macleod Distillers.
No.1 Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky offered “aromas of butterscotch, oak, red berries and dried fruits” paired with “notes of spiced cake, lemons and raisins”, according to the retailer.
No.1 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, meanwhile, was “intensely peaty on the nose, with a hint of sea breeze and heather”. It offered a finish that was “long with sweet, malty notes”.
Rounding out the range, Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky was “smooth, elegant, and fruity on the palate, with aromas of citrus and malt, cinnamon and gentle oak, and a soft delicate spicy finish”.
“The single malts are a great expression of some of Scotland’s most iconic whisky regions, and include Speyside, Highland and Islay,” said Waitrose spirits buyer John Vine. “Each bottle is ideal for our whisky loving customers, showcasing the true and iconic characteristics that we have come to know from Scottish whisky.”
It comes after Waitrose expanded its No.1 wine range with the addition of four new bottles – Gavi di Gavi, Riesling, De Grendel Sauvignon Blanc and Primitivo di Manduria Ris – late last year.
The retailer has also launched a trio of own-label non-alcoholic wines – as well as expanding its Loved & Found wine range with five new bottles – in recent months.
