Watchdogs have urged retailers not to stock a raft of newly launched drinks because it believes they appeal to underage consumers.
The Portman Group has ruled that two vodka jelly products - Buzzpots, which is made by the Tubular Drinks Company, and Tubz from Strelley Enterprises - breached its code of practice because of the products’ bright colours. Cream liqueur X-Plode, packaged in a “sperm-shaped” container and featuring the slogan ‘Keep ‘em coming’, has also raised objections.
The spirit, imported by Pinsight Financial Services, was not only rapped for appealing to under 18s but also because it was “associated with sexual success”.
