Booths has launched a click & collect operation to help shoppers through the coronavirus crisis.

The family-owned supermarket chain said the new next-day service would also be extended throughout the year.

More than 150 products can now be ordered online and collected from Booths’ 28-strong store estate across Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

Booths colleagues will take payment over the phone. Goods can be collected in-store or arrangements can be made for shopping to be delivered to a customer’s vehicle outside.

The retailer will charge £3 for all click & collect orders, with an additional cost of 20p per bag for packing the shopping.

The new service is in addition to the emergency essential delivery service the supermarket is already offering customers, who can call 0800 2218086 from Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4pm. These deliveries are made to customers living within a three-mile radius of a Booths store.

There is also a range of 14 essential grocery bundles, covering the basics from milk, bread, eggs, pasta, tea, fruit & vegetables and meat that can be delivered.

“Booths is here to help our customers access key groceries at this very challenging time,” said John Gill, head of trading and marketing. “We brought forward our plans to launch our click & collect service as it presents a convenient and efficient way to shop at Booths.

“The addition to the click & collect service will help many customers who are concerned about their health, and the health of others, access groceries without the need to shop in store.

“Booths have worked quickly to implement this system at a time when supermarkets are under tremendous pressure and trials of the service have been very successful. Booths prides itself on looking after our customers and these additional services have been appreciated and valued by our local communities.”
