The site will soon be developed into an e-commerce portal for retailers

Samworth Brothers has launched a website for its Fresh Food for Now Company, which will be developed into an e-commerce portal for retailers.

The food manufacturer launched the food-to-go delivery business to supply forecourts, service stations and convenience stores in April - an expansion of its Ginsters van sales operation.

Samworth said the site would play an important role in communicating the company’s evolution from its previous Ginsters-branded van delivery service, to showcase the wider range of product and services it provides retailers.

It would soon enable customers to order direct from the site, Samworth said.

The company said the website also promoted Samworth’s commercial expertise in driving sales and providing customer insights.

The Grocer reported earlier this year that products on offer would include Honest Crust, Ginsters, Soreen, West Cornwall Pasty Co and its healthy snack bar range Pro2Go from SCI-MX.

“Normally you’d be looking at 10 to 12 weeks to launch a simple brochure-style website, so to launch a more complex project in less than half the time was impressive,” said Food for Now head of brand & category Alastair Johns.

“We have ambitious plans to increase our market share in the food-to-go sector and we believe our new website will play a vital role in making that possible.”
