Waitrose has announced the appointment of Ben Stimson as its new retail director as of 27 March.

Stimson replaces Rob Collins, who becomes managing director on 4 April, taking over from Mark Price. Price is leaving the business after 33 years.

Stimson joined the John Lewis Partnership in 2010 and has had senior roles with both John Lewis and Waitrose.

He is a member of the John Lewis management board and was a director of retail operations at Waitrose for two years from 2013.

“Ben is a talented individual who has already made a great contribution to the Partnership,” Collins said. “He’ll be a terrific retail director and an effective member of the Waitrose management board.”

After graduating, Stimson worked as a management consultant. From 2001 to 2009 he held a number of senior marketing and communications positions at Sky.

The married father of two, who lives in Teddington, has been on the board of the Nationwide Building Society’s charitable Foundation since 2008 and became chair in 2012.

Price’s departure from Waitrose and his replacement by Rob Collins was announced in October last year.

Last month, it was revealed that Price was to be a minister of state for Trade and Investment, jointly at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.
