Adams Foods, which owns the Pilgrims Choice and Mu cheese brands, has named Brendan Power as sales director.

Power joins Adams Foods from AB InBev where he worked for 20 years. He held a number of senior positions during his time there, including sales, category marketing and customer management.

His last role was commercial director for off-trade multiples, where he led the team to deliver the strategy across sales, marketing and supply.

He left the brewer in June last year “to pursue other opportunities” and was replaced by Simon Harrison.

In his new role he will report to CEO Ian Toal and will take responsibility for the company’s sales force across all channels.

“We are delighted to welcome Brendan to the team,” Toal said. “He has a wealth of experience across a range of disciplines and channels and we are excited about the new ideas he will bring to the business. He is a key part of our senior management team and will play an integral role in growing our business and the value we offer our customers in 2013.”

Power replaces Sean Whitfield, who has left Adams Foods after five years. The company said Whitfield would act in a consultancy capacity on a number of initiatives over the next few months.

Power’s appointment tops a busy January for Adams Foods. Earlier this month it scored a major coup over rival Arla by winning the contract to supply Iceland’s own-label range of hard cheeses. The contract starts on 1 February.
