Logistics giant Wincanton has named Eric Born as its new CEO following a restructuring of the business.

Born moves up from the role of COO, replacing Graeme McFaull, who has been at the helm since December 2005.

Wincanton said the change at the top was part of a planned succession, with McFaull remaining with the company in a consultative role.

Born, who had been COO since April 2009, had extensive experience in managing turnarounds and growth in a number of industries, the company said.

Wincanton now planned to focus on organic growth, reducing debt and improving profitability through a greater reduction in overhead and operating costs, it added.

Chairman David Edmonds praised outgoing CEO McFaull. "He has played a major part in securing its growth into a major logistics company over that period," he said.
