According to the nation’s favourite cheese brand, the range has had strong sales performance and has “gone down a storm with consumers”.

Saputo Dairy UK has secured additional listings for its plant-based Cathedral City variant, following a successful launch in Tesco last year.

Cathedral City Plant Based is now available in Sainsbury’s and Asda, and will launch into Morrisons and online on Ocado and Amazon Fresh later this month.

According to the market-leading chesee brand, the range has seen strong sales since its launch in September 2022 and “gone down a storm with consumers”.

The new listings will be supported by a Veganuary marketing campaign encouraging consumers looking to reduce their dairy consumption to try Cathedral City’s plant-based offering.

The campaign is across PR, social media, influencer partnerships and shopper activations in the mults.

“Veganuary is a key time of the year for flexitarians who are seeking plant-based alternatives but are worried about sacrificing on taste, texture or quality,” said Neil Stewart, head of marketing for Cathedral City at Saputo Dairy UK.

“Our Cathedral City Plant Based range now provides a great alternative for anyone wanting to reduce their dairy consumption.”

The plant-based product was based on the brand’s flagship cheddar and according to the Saputo brand took years to develop to ensure it delivered the same quality.

“The demand for dairy-free alternatives is on the rise and our new range has brought new shoppers into the category thanks to its delicious flavour and texture,” Stewart added.

“Our expansion into new retailers means that even more people can now enjoy our delicious plant-based products.”
