Poundland has launched an online range of 177 £1 household staples, including snacks, cleaning products and toiletries.
The ‘Value Heroes’ range has been added to Poundshop.com, the e-commerce business Poundland bought in February this year.
Among the £1 lineup, which is also in Poundland stores, is Fairy washing-up liquid (433ml), Flash cleaner (450ml) and Nivea Men shower gel (250ml).
Poundshop.com is also discounting one product each Wednesday to 1p while stocks last, starting today with Elbow Grease degreaser original (500ml).
“The pressure on customers from inflation is real,” said Poundland COO Austin Cooke.
“While we’re serving more shoppers, that’s partly offset by customers being more intentional about what they’re putting in the baskets. That’s why we’re determined to bring more value to more places, in store and through our new online business.”
Poundland also said today that it had cut the price of 1,000 general merchandise products and planned to open 25 stores by the end of the year, including relocations.
The GM price cuts in the variety discounter’s 800-plus stores cover categories including gardening, DIY, homewares and kitchenware, with numerous lines at £2.
Poundland commercial director Tim Bettley said: “We’re acutely aware how important value-for-money is right now for our customers – and that’s why whether it’s across grocery, clothing or homewares, we’re doubling down on our promise of amazing value.”
Latest Poundland accounts filed at Companies House revealed the purchase price it paid for Poundshop.com was just £1.
Separate accounts for Poundshop.com for the year to 30 April 2021 put the company’s net liabilities at £2.3m.
