Duck specialist Gressingham Foods enjoyed a 6% rise in value sales for the 12 months to 28 February on the back of an increase in retail sales.

Sales for Green Label Foods, trading under the name Gressingham Foods, rose from £100.6m to £106.8m, according to latest accounts lodged with Companies House.

However, operating profit fell slightly, from £2.7m to £2.6m, with gross profit margin falling from 16.3% to 15.6%, mainly due to an increase in the cost of wages.

Gressingham, which supplies a variety of fresh and frozen duck to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado, opened a new £5m distribution centre in Diss, Norfolk, in January.
