Herb and spice brand Schwartz is hoping to raise its profile among foodies with the launch of a premium range that includes fruit and vegetable pieces.

Schwartz Cook Art was targeted at the 36% of the population considered “more able” cooks, said a spokesman. The combination of herbs and spices with fruit and vegetable pieces would “help bring alluring flavours and intense aromas to the dining table”, he added.

The range, which is packaged in brushed aluminium tins, includes: Unusual Combinations, which aims to encourage experimentation; Richly Roasted, which has Moroccan, Tandoori and Chinese flavours; and Sea Salts Blends, which is available in Asian Spiced, Mediterranean Spiced and Mixed Peppercorns flavours.

The launch will be backed with a press campaign in weekend supplements and food titles in the autumn, when it rolls out nationally following a smaller trial over summer.
