Sainsbury's colney hatch 2

Sainsbury’s Barnwood won this week with its “clean, bright and spacious store”. It didn’t impress from the outside, looking “tired”, but once inside there were good seasonal displays and a strong smell of doughnuts. Staff were “discreet and efficient” in their restocking but were visible when needed. Full marks for availability and overall a “calm, uneventful shop”.

With “so many deals and offers” at Morrisons Ipswich, our shopper felt they could have spent so much more cash. Vegetarian foods appeared in a couple of places, which led to confusion, but one of many willing members of staff put out a call for help over the PA.

Due to its town centre location and shared car park, there were long queues outside Waitrose Billericay. A “beautiful display of garden plants and cut flowers” outside appealed. Staff were helpful in locating goods, using handheld stock devices to look for items.

Asda in Robroyston had many services, well-stocked shelves and even a stall offering cookies to try. However, staff were “hard to find” and most seemed to be “shopping for home delivery rather than being available to help customers”. Overall, our shopper was left “disappointed by the shopping experience”.

Online shopping trollies clogged up the aisles at Tesco Purley, which was “frustrating”. A nonsensical layout meant gluten-free products were found in a non-food aisle. Checkout staff could have been “a lot more approachable” and our shopper would have expected the out of stock items to be available given the shop took place first thing on a Saturday.
