The Chilean fresh produce industry is launching a campaign to push the health benefits of cherries to UK consumers as the fruit comes into season.

The Cherries... Love, Health & Happiness campaign aims to raise public awareness over the next month via national press ads in consumer magazines telling shoppers that cherries are now coming into UK stores.

The ads will highlight the message that cherries are a good source of vitamin C and antioxidants that can help fight cancer and other diseases.

In-store tastings will be held in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda, supported by promotional leaflets, PoS materials, trolley posters and a feature in Asda Magazine.

Customers purchasing Chilean cherries at a UK retailer will also be eligible to enter a prize draw to win a holiday to Chile when they send in their receipt.

The Chilean Fresh Fruit Association is also promoting blueberries in the UK in the next two months.
