Somerset cider producer Thatchers is introducing a cider named after iconic West Country band The Wurzels, which is enjoying a resurrection.

Wurzel Me Cider is being launched next week in advance of next month's release of an updated celebrity version of The Wurzels' 30-year-old anthem 'I am a Cider Drinker', which will be fronted by TV personality Tony Blackburn.

The 4.8% tipple is fruity and crisp, and is produced with freshly pressed apples from the company's own orchards. It is targeted at the student market as well as those who remember the 'I am a Cider Drinker' song the first time round.

Priced at £1.79 per 500ml bottle, 5p from every bottle sold will go to the BUI Prostate Cancer Care Appeal. A giftbox containing a bottle of cider and a pint glass etched with the Thatchers name will also be available.

The Wurzels still play about 200 sell-out gigs each year and the band is set to appear at this year's Glastonbury Festival.
