Irish crisp manufacturer Tayto has acquired Golden Wonder's brands and manufacturing facilities for an undisclosed sum.

Tayto said that it had acquired Golden Wonder's facility at Scunthorpe, together with the Golden Wonder brands Golden Wonder, Golden Skins crisps, Golden Lights and Ringos.

However, it also revealed that it had sold Golden Wonder's crisp brands Nik Naks and Wheat Crunchies to United Biscuits, also for an undisclosed sum.

Golden Wonder fell into administration last month.

Stephen Hutchinson, managing director of Tayto, said: "We have a very clear vision for our business and the sale of Golden Wonder provided us with an accelerated growth opportunity at exactly the right time."

He added: "This acquisition of the Golden Wonder brand and manufacturing capacity is the next stage in ambitious plans for the future."
