Brits are lagging behind the French when it comes to click & collect, a new survey has revealed.

Just 20% of UK shoppers are using click & collect compared with 35% of their French counterparts, according to a Symphony EYC poll of 1,000 shoppers.

Analyst Mark Croxton attributed the difference to more flexible collection times in France. Carrefour allows pick up just two hours after ordering, for example.

“If the UK replicated the quick turnaround, it would be a more attractive proposition,” he said.

UK retailers are improving their offers, however. Waitrose has rolled out temperature-controlled collection pods that shoppers can unlock with a code.
