No Euro Tesco Metro
Tesco cannot use the Metro name in Europe outside the UK, having lost a trademark battle with German retailer Metro. The Court of First Instance in Luxembourg overruled an earlier decision in Tesco's favour. It said Tesco had failed to renew the trademark in 2003.
Co-op acquisition
The East of England Co-operative Society has acquired Craskes Supermarket and post office in Horsford, near Norwich. It will become the society's 117th food store.
Teen drinking
Government advisers have proposed a ban on advertising alcohol on TV in a bid to cut binge drinking, and proposed increases in the excise duty for alcohol to price it outside the range of young people.
