Appointing his old mate David Potts (12) as Morrisons CEO a year ago, Higginson also got the best retailer he had worked with in 25 years in grocery, he said.
Higginson’s focus since then has been on strengthening what was a very weak board with heavyweight talent, particularly non-exec - including former P&G boss Irwin Lee and Greene King chief executive Rooney Anand.
Higginson is widely thought to have some major play in mind for the future, but for the time being his focus appears to be in supporting Potts, selling the new vision of Morrisons as a plucky British underdog.
