Malcolm Longley has been appointed chief executive officer of pigmeat processor Glanbia Fresh Meats UK. Longley has more than 40 years' experience in the meat industry. He was previously production director at W&J Parker. He said: "I'm looking forward to working with my very experienced and knowledgable team at Glanbia Fresh Meats to drive the business forward in what is a challenging time for the UK fresh meat industry. "Our key strategy for the coming year will be to invest in our state-of-the-art meat processing facilities and continue to work closely with our retail customers to deliver appropriate products which meet the needs of consumers." Longley replaces Martin O'Kane who becomes chairman at Glanbia Fresh Meats and Glanbia Consumer Meats. A spokesman for Glanbia said: "Longley joins at an exciting time, with significant investment planned for Glanbia fresh meats during 2002 in terms of plant and new product development."
