Paul Kitchener will take over as chief executive of biscuit manufacturer Burton’s Foods, replacing Adrian Sharpe who left in April.

Kitchener will join the maker of Cadbury Fingers and Jammie Dodgers on January 5. He is currently divisional chief executive of Brake Brothers’ foodservice division. Before that he was MD of United Biscuits group supply chain division, where he was responsible for global logistics.

He will report to Robert Schofield who keeps his position as executive chairman of Burton’s and chief executive of sister company Premier Foods. He said: “I am very excited by the opportunity to lead Burton’s Foods and work with the team to face the challenges that lie ahead. I am confident we can continue to drive focused innovation and profitable growth.”

The company said Kitchener’s appointment completed a process of gradual restructuring.
