Radio Times is to create a special colour wallchart to help retailers keep track of its publication dates in the run-up to Christmas 2000.
The chart has been designed to ensure that newsagents make the most of Radio Times' traditionally high sales over the festive season, where circulation more than doubles compared to the regular weekly figures.
The Christmas issue is one of the biggest revenue-earning events in the magazine market and will sell almost three million copies. According to the publishers, up to three issues of the Radio Times will be on sale at any one time during December because of the overlapping publication dates. Retailers are being asked to display magazines as soon as they arrive to capitalise on the sales increase.
This year's Christmas issue features programmes from December 23 to January 5, with TV and radio schedules for Christmas and New Year.
Radio Times publication dates are: Issue 48, on sale, Monday, November 20; Issue 49, on sale Saturday November 25; Issue 50, on sale Friday December 1; Issue 51, on sale Tuesday December 5; Issue 52/1, on sale Tuesday December 12; and Issue 2, on sale December 29.
The walk-in sales team from distributor Frontline will deliver the wallchart to retailers in the next week, while copies will be placed on top of wholesale bundles.
