Costco is to open its 22nd UK depot a 133,000 sq ft purpose-built site in Coventry in August.

Costco believes there is sufficient demand to open one or two new depots every year in the UK "for the foreseeable future", according to accounts posted this week at Companies House.

Sales rose 10.3% to £1.4bn in the year to August 2009, thanks in part to the opening of depots in Cardiff and Croydon in 2008 and the extension of its Edinburgh depot. Pre-tax profits fell 14.8% to £22m, partly due to energy costs.
