The Dutch Meat Board is to cease operating in the UK this year, following the closure of its operations in the Netherlands, Greece, Germany and Italy.
The UK arm was held in high regard and was seen to add value to the sector. MD Robert Smith has shaken hands on an agreement to take up a marketing and communications role in the UK with Dutch bacon and fresh pork producer Vion.
A series of mergers and acquisitions in the Dutch meat sector made it practical for these bigger companies to take responsibility for their own communications, said Smith.
Vion is a major supplier of Dutch bacon and fresh pork to the UK.
