It’s business as usual at Eastenders Cash & Carry Plc after directors Avtar and Kulwant Singh Hare won an appeal to remove the court-appointed receivers.

Lord Justice Hooper, sitting at the criminal division of the court of appeal, discharged the order appointing Brandon Barnes from accountants BDO as management receiver. Barnes had acted as management receiver since Eastenders’ depots reopened following HMRC raids in December linked to an estimated £50m excise duty fraud.

“Eastenders is trading as normal,” said Darren Rawlins from Anami Law, which acted for Eastenders.
