Innovative suppliers in the egg industry have been recognised at the British Egg Industry Council's 2006 British Egg Awards, which highlight the companies driving growth in the resurgent egg market.
Best Retail Display, sponsored by The Grocer, was won by Aldi for a brightly coloured and attractive in-store display. The judges said it would attract consumers and make them more aware of eggs in store. Best New Lion Eggs Product or Packaging was won by M&S for new packs. Best Product Marketing was won by Stonegate for a decision to print the Lion Mark on top of its eggs.
BEIC chairman Andrew Parker said: "This year's winners are shining examples of innovation within our industry."
