Matthews Foods has teamed up with leading olive oil brand Filippo Berio to launch a spread containing almost twice as much olive oil as rival products.

n The move will pit the Yorkshire-based company, which is backing the launch with £1m, against the might of Unilever Bestfoods, currently bringing its sector-leading Olivio spread under the Bertolli umbrella.

n Filippo Berio Olive Oil Spread will be priced at about 30p more than other spreads in the category.
