Scottish & Newcastle has appointed Tony Froggatt chief executive. He takes up his appointment on May 12.
Froggatt will take the reins from executive chairman Sir Brian Stewart, who becomes non-executive chairman from July 1.
Frogatt was previously executive president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Seagram Spirits and Wine Group.
He was group chief executive of Cinzano from 1988-1992, helping to transform the business and integrate it into the global International Vintners and Distillers (IDV) network.
He has also held executive director posts at IDV and began his career working for Gillette.
Stewart said: "Tony has an excellent track record in developing international drinks businesses and brands."
