Exclusive Karen Dempsey The Ocean Spray brand is venturing into yogurt territory for the first time  and has hinted that this is just the start of a major expansion programme into new categories. Highgrove Foods is providing the dairy expertise in the yogurt venture. It has licensed the Ocean Spray brand and will manufacture, distribute and market the four strong range of low fat bio yogurts. Available from April 15, it comes in Classic Cranberry, Cranberry & Raspberry, Cranberry & Blackcurrant and Cranberry & Grapefruit (rsp: £1.35 for four 125g pots). With regard to promotions, Highgrove Foods sales and marketing director John Goodwin said: "We are riding on the back of the generic marketing campaign for Ocean Spray, which will have an £8m spend this year." He is also developing bespoke promotions for customers. The trade can also expect a bunch of new launches from the Ocean Spray stable. Peter Patkowski, md Europe, Middle East and Africa for Ocean Spray, said: "Licensing gives us the opportunity to leverage our brand into other areas we feel are a good fit with our brand position." In the US it has launched frozen fruit lolly pops in conjunction with ice cream manufacturer Bryers. But Patkowski said that "right now there is no specific plan or timetable to bring these to the UK". As well as licensed launches, he added that Ocean Spray planned to launch new products in its three core areas of juices, sauces and dried cranberries. {{MARKETING - P&P }}
