Icelandic group Bakkavor has scooped up London based chilled food specialist Katsouris Fresh Foods and Fillo Pastry in a £102m deal. The deal is the largest corporate acquisition ever undertaken by an Icelandic firm and follows the recent purchase of Birmingham based Wine & Dine, which produces fresh salad dressings and dips. Further deals are likely in the UK as Bakkavor looks to diversify from its roots in processed seafood and build its share in the European chilled food market. Wembley based KFF operates from four sites producing ready meals, snacks and dips for the multiples. Bakkavor chairman Agust Gudmundsson said Bakkavor would continue to invest in the new purchases, which he expected to generate sales of £125m in 2002. {{NEWS }}
