Belgian soft drink manufacturer Lifestyle Drinks was offering late night revellers a hangover cure with a drink called Outox.
According to the company, one 250ml bottle of Outox drunk before going to sleep or used as an alcoholic drinks mixer stops the head-thumping the morning after.
Marc Smaele, CEO of Lifestyle Drinks, said the ingredients in the self-styled ‘soberade’ encourage the liver to produce extra enzymes that help reduce the effects of alcohol and prevent a hangover.
Therefore, he added, it could save UK industry millions of pounds from lost work days due to alcohol-related sickness.
The non-alcoholic drink has been on sale in Belgium and Smaele said he was in discussions with two UK distributors. He is bidding to launch the drink in this country before Christmas. Each bottle will be priced at a similar level to Red Bull.
