Marks & Spencer is launching a new food marketing campaign built around the strapline ‘make today delicious’ and featuring the actress Anna Friel.

The campaign will seek to publicise M&S as a destination for everyday events – such as barbecues, picnics and Sunday roasts.

It will kick off next week with a TV ad focused on a summer barbecue that will show off a range of M&S dishes such as the Ultimate Steak Burger and Pork Belly in Hoisin glaze.

Former Brookside star Anna Friel will provide the voice for a series of ads – focused on different events from a seaside picnic to a lunch on the go.

M&S said the ‘make today delicious’ campaign will cover all of its marketing online, in print and on TV.

“Spending time with friends and family is a priority for our customers, but with no major national celebrations this year they’re placing even greater emphasis on personal, more everyday events,” said Steve Sharp, executive director of marketing at M&S.

“Food is being used as a way to bring people together and make those moments more memorable – be it a BBQ, a picnic or a Sunday roast. This campaign taps into this trend – showing exactly how great food can transform the mundane into something special.”
