The success of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors’ My Shop is Your Shop consumer PR campaign was recognised at the association’s annual awards last week with the gold medal for special services to the industry going to Alan Twigg, Nexus Communications group strategy and new business director.

Twigg sits on the committee of the FWD Pr Action Group and turned the idea of MSIYS into reality. He is the first non-wholesaler or supplier to pick up the coveted award.

Awards were also given out to a range of managers and suppliers. David Grimes from Parfetts in Sheffield took the gong for independent cash & carry manager; Andrew Westwood, warehouse manager at Costco in Leeds for multiple manager; Michael McCann of Bestway in Northampton was named delivered depot manager multiple and Ivan Snelling from Thomas Ridley for delivered independent.

Strongbow, Potato Head and Tetley gained brand awards while Coca-Cola Enterprises and Heinz were named best service companies.

Kuldeep Maini of Maini Cash & Carry; Gordon Moore of 3663 in Salisbury; Naim Khan at Bestway in Luton; Marcus Singh from Hyperama in Nottingham and United Biscuits also received awards.
