Scottish retailers are facing the prospect of test-purchasing of alcohol by under-18s.
Trading Standards in Scotland has been unable to use young people to test-purchase because of concern for their welfare.
The Crown Office has now approved the principle and the Scottish Executive is expected to amend the Licensing (Scotland) Bill during its final stages in the Scottish Parliament on November 16. Retailers can expect test-purchasing to roll out quickly thereafter.
