The Grocer is launching an awards scheme to recognise business excellence in the industry.
Uniquely, The Grocer Gold Awards will reward suppliers, wholesalers and retailers.
Editor Julian Hunt said: "We are trying to break the mould with this scheme.
"As you would expect from the industry's premier business magazine, we are working hard to ensure The Grocer Gold Awards make a truly positive statement about the great work being done by companies right across the grocery sector.
"With that in mind, we have deliberately focused our awards scheme on key business areas such as innovation, marketing excellence and customer satisfaction."
Many of the awards will be decided on the basis of exclusive research carried out for The Grocer. However, some of the categories are open for retail and wholesale groups to enter, with awards for best own label range development, marketing excellence and best business initiative up for grabs.
Entries are now being sought for these awards.
There is also an award for the best independent retail chain which is open only to those companies featuring in The Grocer Top 50 ranking.
More details of the other awards will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The awards will be presented at an exclusive business dinner at London's Claridge's Hotel on June 11. Places for this special event will be strictly limited.
