Sial, the food fair held in Paris, launches this Sunday 17 October until Thursday 21.

The exhibition, which last ran two years ago, will occupy a 200,000 sq m space at the Paris-Nord Exhibition Centre and will attract an estimated 5,300 exhibitors.

The event will have an international flavour with 100 countries represented. An estimated 72% of exhibitors will be from outside France and a quarter from beyond Europe, with first time appearances from Belarus, Serbia, Yemen, Latvia, Finland and Japan.

The show’s visitors are likely to arrive from 188 different countries, with 135,000 buyers expected and at least half of these to be from outside of France.

This year Sial has created 15 themes trails to enable visitors to concentrate on special interests. The trails are organic, Kosher and Halal products, chocolate, items for vending machines, waters, festive offerings, speciality cheeses, fruit & veg, olive oil, health foods & food supplements, teas, herbal & fruit beverages, sandwiches & snacking, international soups and ‘La Route de la mer’ to highlight seafood.

As well as the exhibitors there will be 70 conferences, seminars and events running alongside the main fair. These will cover a host of subjects, including insights to the Japanese weight-loss market and providing long-lasting trade in the coffee industry.

The British pavilions are being organised by Food from Britain, and there will be more than 60 UK producers looking to build and grow their global business.

More than 1,400 journalists from 58 countries are expected to cover the exhibition.
