The approaching Christmas season has begun to impact upon in-store activity, with a defining change in focus. The category chart is dominated by snacks, alcoholic drinks and cakes and biscuits with two of these categories being new entries into the chart. Snacks steals the number one spot and is supported by the activity on Walkers which rises to number two in the brand chart. The rise of alcoholic drinks to number two is due, in part, to the promotions on Grolsch and Stella Artois both of which appear in the top five of the brand chart. Cadbury is the top brand this week with promotions across cakes and biscuits, confectionery and dairy, with price promotions being most common.
