Lady Sylvia Jay, former director general of the Food and Drink Federation, has joined L’Oréal UK as vice chairman.
Lady Sylvia will take up her new position on September 1, replacing Tom Vyner, who is retiring after eight years with the company. She will overlap with Vyner until the end of the year to
achieve a smooth transition. Her aim is to ensure good corporate governance practices and take responsibility for external affairs and corporate communications.
Lady Sylvia is also a non-executive director of Saint Gobain, a governor of the British Nutrition Foundation, a member of the Council of Food from Britain and chairman of the Pilgrim Trust.
Lindsay Owen-Jones, chairman of L’Oréal UK, said the group was delighted to have found a person of equal stature and reputation to Vyner who would be able to continue the progress L’Oréal had made in a tough business environment.
Melanie Leech replaces Lady Sylvia at the FDF.
