Spirits distiller Whyte and Mackay has created two senior management roles to boost its focus on key brands and global sales growth.

Jonathan Cleland has joined as international sales director. He was previously a consultant and has also held management roles at RJR Nabisco and at Coca-Cola.

Sian Marshall has become brand controller, responsible for shaping investment in core brands such as Whyte and Mackay and Vladivar. She was previously group account director for Scottish advertising firm Fauld’s. She has also worked for Saatchi and Saatchi and Procter & Gamble.

The appointments follow the integration of Whyte and Mackay’s sales and marketing functions and its announcement of a £50m investment behind its branded portfolio.

Both Marshall and Cleland report to brands director Glen Gribbon, who said: “We have been clear in mapping out a future for Whyte and Mackay underpinned by big brands with international scope. To facilitate this we need good, commercially-minded people and it is encouraging to see Sian and Jonathan joining the team.”
